Cookies Policy
Effective Date: January 1, 2026 | Last Updated: October 2026
1. Introduction & Overview
At Dasha Calculator, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of user trust, privacy, and digital transparency. This Cookies Policy explains what cookies and web storage technologies are, how we use them on our website, what data is stored, and how you can manage or adjust your cookie preferences at any time.
We operate on a privacy-first philosophy: our core Vimshottari Dasha calculations run directly inside your client browser, and we never use invasive third-party tracking or behavioral advertising cookies.
2. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?
Cookies are small text files placed on your computer or mobile device by websites that you visit. They are widely used to make websites function efficiently, remember preferences across page visits, and provide a secure user experience.
Local Storage (localStorage) is a modern web standard that allows websites to store small amounts of data securely in your browser with no expiration date. Unlike traditional cookies, data stored in local storage remains exclusively on your device and is not automatically transmitted to our servers with every network request, maximizing user speed and privacy.
3. How We Use Cookies and Storage
We use cookies and local storage strictly for functional, aesthetic, and essential operational purposes:
- Cookie Consent Status: We store your consent decision in browser local storage so the consent banner does not repeatedly disrupt your experience across visits.
- Theme Preference: We store your chosen visual theme (Dark Vedic Mode or Clean Light Mode) to prevent visual flickering when loading new pages.
- Language Selection: We preserve your active language selection across multilingual editions of our dasha calculators.
- Calculation State & Cache: Temporary astrological chart inputs may be cached in your local browser session to let you toggle between Antardasha sub-periods without retyping your birth information.
4. Complete Breakdown of Storage Keys Used
| Key / Cookie | Storage Type | Lifespan | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| cookie_consent | localStorage | Persistent (1 year) | Remembers that you acknowledged and accepted the website cookie notice. |
| theme | localStorage | Persistent | Stores your preference for dark or light user interface theme. |
| preferred_locale | localStorage | Persistent | Remembers your chosen language for homepage translations. |
| session_chart_cache | sessionStorage | Active Session | Temporarily preserves active dasha calculations while you explore sub-period tabs. |
5. Client-Side Astrological Privacy Guarantee
Unlike many online services, Dasha Calculator never transmits your birth dates, times, geographic coordinates, or planetary calculations to third-party ad brokers or tracking networks. Our Vedic algorithms run 100% on your device using client-side JavaScript.
6. How to Manage, Block, or Delete Cookies
You have full control over cookies and browser storage. You can configure your browser to block cookies, notify you when a cookie is being set, or delete all stored data:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Third-party cookies / Clear browsing data
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection / Cookies and Site Data
- Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data / Block all cookies
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data
Please note: Disabling local storage or essential cookies may cause your dark mode preference or language settings to reset upon every page reload.
7. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookies Policy periodically to reflect enhancements to our astronomical calculators or changes in applicable privacy regulations. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page indicates the latest revision.
